Wandering through Manchester city centre, you can’t fail to notice that homelessness is something of an issue. You might even have thought that it’s time someone did something about it.
Well, on Thursday, December 14th, someone is.
Comedian Lindsey Davies has set up The Homeless Support Stand Up Project, which aims to stage a stand up comedy show in every UK town and city to raise money for homeless people.
Naturally, Manchester is getting involved and some of the best acts on the Manchester circuit are giving their time to raise money for Mustard Tree, a charity that does tremendous work helping people trapped in poverty or homelessness across Greater Manchester.
The bill includes:
- Dawn Rigby – 2016 XS Manchester Comedian of the Year
- Rob Mulholland – 2015 Beat The Frog World Series Champion
- Jamie Hutchinson – 2017 XS Manchester Comedian of the Year
In other words, it’s going to be good. And we think you should go.
Where is it and what time does it start?
The show is at Tribeca on Sackville Street. Not sure where that is? No problem. Here’s a map.
Doors open at 7:30pm for an 8pm start.
How much are tickets?
The show is operating a ‘pay what you like’ system, with tickets available at £5, £7 and £10. And every penny goes to the charity. So that one’s really up to you. Buy them here.
Of course, it’s a charity, so theoretically you can of course donate as much as you like directly to them via the Mustard Tree website.
A bit more about Mustard Tree
Established in 1994, Mustard Tree aims to tackle”the causes and consequences of poverty” and give people the support they need to create a better life for themselves.
From giving people the practical help they need in a crisis, offering teaching and training to improve their employment prospects or simply treating them with the basic dignity they deserve, their work helps thousands of people.
Check out some of their success stories for just a handful of examples of how they’ve changed lives for the better.
We’ll be there on December 14th. We hope you will be too!
